Transformation At The PentagonA Human Interest Storyby Diane M. Rousseau![]() Pentagon Chaplain COL Ralph Benson standing by May Peace Prevail On Earth banner. Photo by: Diane M. Rousseau 8/2004 The first room we visited is the Pentagon Meditation Room. On the wall in the corner is a banner that reads: "May Peace Prevail On Earth" Also in the same room are three stained glass panels depicting three Spiritual Principles and events. The first glass panel is of one of our Founding Fathers, George Washington, kneeling on the ground on one knee. His eyes are closed with his right hand touching the Earth, asking God to Bless it. The second glass panel depicts four Medical Officers who drowned giving their lives so others might live. The third glass panel represented NASA and showed an American Astronaut looking at the earth holding on to the post which holds the USA Flag. These panels show Spiritual Principles, and acts of Courage, Faith, and Values. ![]() "Lest We Forget" Diane M. Peters 8/2004 There is also the Pentagon Memorial which will have 184 benches with radiant light reflection pools underneath that will be put on the grounds in the Memorial Park. Each bench or unit will be engraved with the victims name. This is being done to commemorate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, and the 184 innocent lives lost in the Pentagon and on American Airlines Flight 77. Fifty nine memorial units will face one way, and one hundred twenty five will face the other, thus distinguishing victims on board American Airlines flight 77 from those who were inside the Pentagon. The third room the Chaplain showed me had a table and a podium where Religious people of all Faiths took turns sharing their Spiritual Beliefs, Values and Philosophies. I saw this as a means for boundaries to be crossed, and where Religious tolerance and respect is the common ground as each Faith is represented. At the time I looked in the room a Rabbi was speaking to the people at the table. I was impressed with the efforts already underway for understanding Religious Beliefs, tolerance, and compassion. The fourth room was the Navy Chapel, here each Faith can practice their Beliefs and others who are interested can join in the Religious and Spiritual Services for greater understanding, companionship, and appreciation. Daily there is Meditation and Prayer where people of all Faiths can Meditate and Pray together. Of interest, on a main floor the four different Departments of Service are listed with Values under each one, they all clearly reflect Spiritual Principles. ![]() Pentagon Chaplain COL Ralph Benson standing in front of US Army Values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, Personal Courage Photo by: Diane M. Rousseau 8/2004 I had brought with me and given the Chaplain two different articles about a disabled Veteran who started the Company, "Random Acts of Kindness", who I had made a member of the Pentagon Meditation Society. Kelly had been on 5 news channels for her charitable act of putting baskets together for the families and loved ones of our Service people while they are away. The articles I gave the Chaplain were from The National Guardian and National Guard papers. He was going to take them to the Reserve Department to uplift the morale and also to show that there are people who care for those who are willing to give their lives for others, those who have, those who are disabled, and for those who feel forgotten. We must think of the people who put their lives on the line in all the Service Departments and what they give of themselves for others daily. There must be compassion, human interest, and an appreciation for the people in all the Service Departments, Police and Fire Departments, as well as concern for the welfare of others. This will raise public concern as to the appreciation of all those who work for the welfare and needs of others, as well as raise the attention and concerns for the greater whole of all Humanity, everywhere. ![]() George Washington Asking God to Bless the Earth Pentagon Meditation Room Photo by: Diane M. Rousseau 8/2004 It is hoped that this story will raise the hopes, values, and compassion, as well as inspire the Faiths and beliefs of others. It is to bring light to something currently being done which will effect all of humanity and raise the consciousness as to the needs and welfare of others, and for the benefit of all. Respectfully, Diane M. Rousseau President Institute of Spiritual Sciences May Peace Prevail On Earth...
